About the Program & Mission

The mission of a CVHS post-graduate residency program is to develop competent, confident, practice-ready Nurse Practitioners equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the specific needs of our safety-net clientele and community.

Program Goals

  • Train new Nurse Practitioners in the complex FQHC setting through highly structured, transitional care experiences.
  • Provide patient-centered care, consistent with FQHC and Patient Centered Medical Home principles that is compassionate, culturally sensitive, valued, appropriate and effective for the treatment of health conditions as well as the promotion of health.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team in a manner that optimizes safe, effective, patient- and population-centered care.
  • Increase the overall confidence and professional job satisfaction of new Nurse Practitioners working in the FQHC setting.
