Additional Patient Services
In addition to providing primary health care needs, Central Virginia Health Services works to provide its patients additional services.
Reach Out and Read
- Reach Out and Read (ROR) promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud. The Reach Out and Read program is available at Central Virginia Community Health Center, Southern Albemarle Family Practice, the Community Health Center of the Rappahannock Region, Health and Wellness Center of Louisa, and Charlotte Primary Care.
- Some CVHS sites receive a limited amount of Komen funding. Women who are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible to receive free screening mammograms under the Komen grant program. Dominion Resources Foundation provided additional funding for low income women to receive mammograms free at Central Virginia Community Health Center.
- Some sites have unique community programs. In Petersburg, the local YMCA offers pre-diabetes classes. Charlotte Primary Care invites hundreds of community children and their families for an annual safe Halloween.
